then I moved-up to a Mitchell 300.
Then a fly rod.
My Dad ("The Instructor") is left-handed,
so he always casted left (dominant hand) and reeled right (weaker hand).
When he taught me, he naturally (or un-naturally?...) mirrored his methodology to suit my right-handedness.
Which makes me a right casting LHW.
This has always made sense to me,
because I feel that your more coordinated hand is better suited to control the tip/line
vs. the reel, both in casting and retrieve.
Being very close to ambidextrous in many ways, however;
I have started to lawn-cast "lefty" just to increase my odds in tight situations.
I'm not all that good.... - yet.
I've also tried the back-handed cast with my right, but haven't found that to be any easier really...
