She's actually not OK with 15, but I "reasoned" that I was planning on getting the Cabela's corner rod rack and it happens to have 15 holes! Maybe I can get it down to 5 or so configurations, as I'm going to allow for some redundancy as well, as I just love 8' 4 wts! [I know, I know. I shouldn't be complaining about being stuck with only 15 rods. So, apologies ahead of time. But fly fishing is one of my biggest passions, and I compensate for it by toning down other aspects of my life. I'm actually not complaining (that much); it's just hard to figure out which ones to keep.] Lots of variables to consider for different regions, waters, and personal preferences, but let's start with glass rods for trout, short to long, and 3-6 wt. The poll only allows 20 options so this is as comprehensive as I can get for what I would consider. I have some ideas, but I'm curious which ones you like the best. [Don't know how these polls work. You know whatever rods you choose to cull out now, that later you will only have to replace if you can for more money. Explain this to your wife and how a second rack now will save money over the long term. The whole rack thing allows them to count the rods, you are better off adding more closets to the house. (McFarland Vintage) 7'6" 4wt. 8' 5/6wt. I have the corner rack and love it. Switching certain rods to and fm rack is what I've been considering. Three of my rods in the rack are what I've termed "Give away/Donation rods" so they will probably go back into the closet. Actually the rack can hold more, I've got two rods in one larger tube so I guess mine will hold at least 17. Oh, and one of the rods in the rack belongs to my wife. So I've still got room for I think 5 more rods (rotating other 3 out). Forgot, I've got one on order, so 4 more rods. However, Doc, I've noticed my wife occasionally taking a gander at my rack and I've been waiting for her to say something. Kim

Just two more... 8'3" #7 7' #3 Starting small the #3 is just plain fun on windless days for small trout and bluegill. You need at least two 4 weights... I pick a 7' and an 8' to cover the spectrum. You need at least two 5 weights... I pick a 7' and an 8' again, although personally I like 7'9" rods for some reason. You need at least one 6 weight, might as well go for an 8' rod. The 7 weight rod is my preference for large dries like hex and stoneflies and for throwing big streamers. I do a bunch of night fishing in MI after midnight and you need some backbone and a heavier line to pull big browns from structure in the pitch black of night. Also doubles as a solid bass rod and light steelhead rod. Thats my list and my logic.

The rods just move around too much in it, especially two piece rods. I like the Cabelas rod rack with the wheels and drawer at the bottom much better. This rack has two sets of holes for the tube to go through so that they are kept in place a little better. I'm going to try my corner rack with five piece rods to see if it will work better. Right now I have most of my four and five piece rods under the bed in those plastic storage containers. They work pretty good, but it's hard to find a specific rod when it's time to go fishing. And it's easy to scratch up the rod tubes. But it's a good way to hide rods!!!! I'm waiting for Cabelas to have a sale on their $99 rod racks and I'll buy a couple at $69.
