My favorite surface fly in the spring/summer is a hopper, usually with a small dropper fly attached. Recently I've started trying to tie my own and last
night experimented by mixing a popper head with a hopper body:
I think these will work out well and hope to give them a try this weekend, I'm sure this type of fly has been tied before but I haven't seen ones like these. The camera is a bit bright with the flash, the hopper segments are nearly the same color green as the popper but it doesn't show in the pics.
