Mike makes a very fine bass rod - I hear some Philistines even use them on trout...

Hello, nice fish & rods..
Where do you fish at ? I grew up in Champaign, and find myself getting homesick for some of the lakes in the south of the state and some of the smallmouth rivers.. |

I grew up in Urbana. Where did you get those bass? Some great potholes up there that hide some dandy bass.

I have fond memories of chasing bass around the old strip mines - not sure of the name though - was it 'Kickapoo' ? All of it's a long way from
Oz..

ME TOO!, That was Kickapoo State Park near Kankakee, maybe. They had two reclimated strip mine "lakes". Bottomless, scary and full of bass.

It's in Lakemoore, Il. In McHenry county, I live five minutes from the place and there are some pigs in this lake, Isee 'em cruising around anywhere
from 4 to7 pounds, I hooked a five or so this past season on a cane Perfectionist taper and she smoked me!! I catch these almost all day on nothing but a size
10 club sandwich hopper, the other good pattern is a small Puglisi bluegill, bout a size 6 or 8, absoultly slay them.

Whacking big bass on classic glass. Close to home to boot. You have a superb setup. Go Illini!

Reel on McFarland | ||

Hey, The reel is a Redington As 5/6, I bought it about 8 or 9 years ago, I think, it's a nice simple reel, balances the rod pretty well. Thanks, Brian
