Blank Identification Help |

|
Can anyone ID this blank for me. I was told it is a Phillipson and is 30 + yrs old. It seems fast for glass and has a pretty small diameter. Since I have never
handled any Phillipsons I am not sure what it is. I can get different photos if it will help with the ID. This blank is ~ 8 ft. Also if anyone can comment on
any details like line wt, guide spacing etc. I would appreciate it.
Thanks |

I agree Rockthief, I am kind of confused. I thought it was graphite also, but then there are what I would call dots when you look at the blank from a different
angle and I thought it resembled a stripped fiberglass blank I have seen on this site.

It's not a Phillipson. Phillipson glass ferruled rod blanks were made with 3M Scotchply, which was a white/clear glass material.
I would also guess graphite, simply because I can't think of a glass rod blank with that ferrule and a polished blank. Orvis Fullflex A blanks had a similar ferrule, but the blanks weren't sanded and polished. An unlabeled Fenwick HMG? What is the butt diameter of the rod blank? Tom |

Looks graphite to me, too.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am sure it is graphite also at this point. From what I have looked at, the blank is almost identical to the old Sage blanks,
but the ferrule is different. The ferrule on my blank is very similiar to the old Orvis rods, but the blank color is wrong. Any advice on how to find out who
made this blank?
