last saturday night, during the Larry the Cable Guy show. That way I wouldn't have had to wait in any lines!!! That makes me madder than a midget with a
yo-yo!!!

I probably won't get there until mid-morning on Saturday. Are people planning to fish right there at Mcrary's, below the dam at lake Whitney, the
Nolan, or somewhere else?

Oh, I see they changed the forecast to windy with a low of 35 degrees. I'll have to think about that. Tent camping sucks when it is windy.

I got home last night (I had to work today) and have to tell you it was a good time as usual. I got there thursday around 3 PM and it was drizzling rain.
Withing 30 minutes of my arrival it stopped raining and the sun came out. I set up camp and headed down river for an hour or so. I caught a decent 12 inch sand
bass. We went to the Nolan friday morning and walked (behind our Scout leader Russell) for an hour, fished for two, and walked back another hour. We fished,
ate, drank margaritas (DUH), and looked at old rods and reels. Of course I bought a new rod. The sand bass were slow but we did all catch some and Russell
bought one from a mexican kid for $7.50 because Gary and I both had bigger fish than him. We went to bed friday night with a 49 degree temp and and
lots-o-wind. We got up yesterday to 36 degree temp and still had the lovely wind as well. The sun eventually came out and warmed things up enough that we felt
comfortable going fishing. We fished the Brazos below Jacks and had fairly good luck with sand bass, spots, and saucer sized bluegill.
Pics will be coming soon.

Doug (onemoredeer) just got back to my house after a hell of a good weekend. We didn't fish this morning because Doug had to get on the road back home. The weather was less than perfect but it didn't seem to affect the fish/fishing. There were quite a few saucer sized Perch caught as well as largemouts, sandies, and Drum. I'm also happy t report that there were very few serious injuries and no fatalities as far as I know. (LOL) The eating and drinking were superb. For all of y'all that think that Russell is an idiot, you're still correct, however, he's a very hard working idiot and a good cook to boot. He did a hell of a job on the breakfasts, and Rib smoking on Saturday night. Uncle Bud the used Camel Dealer showed-up about daylight, pitched his tent and started the big "Saturday Reel Sale" early. Being a stick to it kind of guy, he didn't close up shop till way after dark (and dinner) on the outside chance that someone might have wired home for more money to spend at his "REEL EMPORIUM and BOUTIQUE". I think I've got some good photo's of the event and I'll get them posted ASAP.
Time is precious. Waste it wisely!

This was my first Glassic and I enjoyed the company more than the fishing. Great guys and the fishing, for as much as I did was good. The food was outstanding,
especially the cherry and apple cobbler [lol]. Russel and Jerry, thanks for keeping the stomachs and outhouses full. Now, for the cows, Jack has to either keep
them out of there while we are there, or put them on a water diet. Other than that, good place for a rowdy gathering. Didn't hear a cuss word all weekend.
As for the weather, I don't know what you guys are talking about, it was 70 and dry in the Casita all weekend and the shower water was hot in the am.
Thanks again for the invite, and it was a pleasure spending the weekend with new friends, and old ones as well. Hope to see you all at the next one. |

Had a great time for what little time I could spend out there....I didn't fish....but the food was worth the trip. Not to mention the white lightning corn
liquor. Vanvan proved to be a master of Dutch oven baking....amazing cobbler. Also a man of outstanding taste in Canadian Whiskey.
Russell....you out did yourself in catering this bash......best fish tacos in Texas and Kick ass ribs...thanks for all the hard work and also your generosity. I am certain there will be another gathering like this in the fall.....for those of you who missed this one......you need to make the next one...you will not regret it. Yes, you may catch a few Brazos River fish....but I guarantee you will make life long friends in the process. Doug....I still have that red agate reel with your name on it....LOL Thanks again fellas.....see you all soon. |

I am sorry that I missed it. Unfortunately, I can't control when people pass on to life eternal. I will be there in the fall. I may try to get down to
McCrary's in the next few weeks. It sounds like fishing should be good this spring.

Hey Guys
Here's a few photos from a hell of a good time. I didn't get a chance to photograph all the food and/or fish because I was too busy eating and/or fishing. IMO, in spite of the not so great weather it was another memorable event and I can't wait for the next one. Oh, and some of the credit for these photos goes to Doug (onemore deer).
