Bob, I have an 11' or 11.5 ' Eagle Claw "Wet Noodle" model spinner. It literally is a wet noodle. I picked it up used at a yard sale.
I've never fished it. It needs most of the guides re-wrapped, but the blank is in O.K. shape. I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but
they did make long glass rods.

What you want is called a "noodle rod," a 8-9 foot or so soft-action spinning rod used by steelheaders in western NY and PA. Try googling
"noodle rod" to get list of makers and dealers. Try Cabela's and Bass Pro.

...thanks, but i have the usual assortment of 10.5' to 13' rods, noodles, ultra lights., lights., mediums, etc.... i need the smaller size rods for
small tributary fishing... anything longer than 9' could get messy in tight surroundings...

Lami has some glass rods in the 8 to 9 foot range,
but they might not be as light as you would like.
How do you feel about wrapping your own? Tom |

...hey thanks tom... never thought that lami would do glass in those sizes... i just figured i'd have to settle on an old garcia or wm... as for rolling my
own, i've grown tired of that and just wanna fish... but gorilla glue makes a duct-tape that ought to wrap guides within minutes and get me on the water
fast... ;-)

the big Lami rods bid up high when they show up on ebay - steelheaders like them.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

Steelheaders liking lamis? Nahhh.
You can also look at the old fenwick rods. an FS83 or FS85 would do the trick, They have a 8-20# range. But the FS83 has a little more lightness (if that's a word) in the tip section for the lighter lines. Just watch out for the C's at the end. Those are casting rods (those rods that are true Fenwicks don't have triggers on the casting rods). Just curious why you want such light line on a short rod? And as much as I love vintage setups, I hate those mitchells. Unless it's one of the new ones they came out with. Especially for light lines, I really hated them. And I kept my reels pretty clean. I have quite a few Mitchells that are retired to the shelves because I won't use them. I'm a Steelheader and I'm a Fenwick Man! If I'm fishing glass, you bet it's gonna be a Fenwick!
