the alloy foot on the pre-1936 Medalists is the best reel foot ever made - it fits anything and everything. The only problem is that too many of them are broken.

yes, to the spare spring, but I think you can find examples of screws vs. riveted feet all through there - Pflueger was not terribly consistent about the little stuff. Seems they built reels from whatever bins of parts were handy.
Classic is when they discontinued the model 1394: took their inventory of reels, went back and added line guards to all of them, over-punched some with a "4" over the 3, and and didn't punch all of them.
All of this was at the same time when the click-pawl 1494 was about to be replaced with the patent drag.
You can see examples of the earliest patent drag reel, all made after 1937 and before 1942, some with riveted feet, and some with screwed feet.
