Nice one, very creative! This would make a badass mosquito larvae as well.
Question, does the silk maintain the same look if sealed with clear cement or epoxy? |

Cam, here is the TRANSFORMER-SH:
I am betting it won't change colors if a coat is put on top, but I might have to experiment. |

Nice flies.
If you put a coat on top of the silk, my guess is it will react the same way white silk acts when used to wrap guides. When the wraps are coated, the silk will become translucent. So it will look as wet all the time. |

I was thinking the Sally Hansen that I use. It is thick so it wouldn't penetrate thus making it like a shell on the white so it wouldn't change colors,
but like I said it is thick.
Thin epoxy like rod wrapping is a different story and I agree with StippledPopper |

Hi FlyGoddess;
Thanks! Wow 200 meters for $5.00, a lot cheaper than Pearsalls at $3.50 for 30 meters. Do the 200 meter spools fit a standard fly tying bobbin? Waynebh |

Oh yes, It is the same hight as Uni, but thicker. It clears fine on all my bobbins.

Have you tied with Pearsalls? Do you think it's the same type of silk? Would be a cheaper quality product if it is.
Often I have been exhausted on trout streams, uncomfortable, wet, cold, briar scarred, sunburned,
mosquito bitten, but never, with a fly rod in my hand have I been in a place that was less than beautiful.

I just went and tied the Transformer using the same red 14/0 thread on under body, but I put Goss/Pearsall pale yellow on top. It is thinner silk so required
closer wraps...no problem, I was even able to over lap and it still worked. Also being thinner made it absorb water quicker.....really nice effect. Just takes
a little longer. Nice to work with and I like it. For fly tying the fact that it comes in a smaller roll might not be as big an issue as in wrapping rods. I
give it a Thumbs Up!
