Paint for under wraps? |
Lead | |
|
Hi All, I am stripping down a Fenwick 102 - 7 and would like to redo the guides with wraps over a base coat of paint. My question is...what kind of paint
should I use? I have searched the site and have come up with recco's for the entire blank, but I am only painting the 1 - 2" sections under the wraps.
I assume the actual finish is to be flat, with the finishing coat providing the "gloss". Does anyone have a brand they can reccomend and any other
tips? Cheers, Chad.

paint under the wraps was pretty common with alot of OEM mgs, Conolon was fur sure one of them, just a cost saving method but not really to popular with the
fly fishing guys at the time.

Hello
I sent Chad a PM asking Why ? It seems the finish under the guides is pretty bad. I recommended automotive dupli color paint. Additional thread could also work to cover the sins but will add considerable weight. Tight Lines and Covered Loops Andy M

Thanks. As a rookie builder, I appreciate all your help. I'll try the auto paint and see.
Cheers, Chad. |

Try chevy, touch up paint for a plastic corvette, you need a paint designed for glass and flexable

Hello
Not true don't be mislead. Dupli Color Automotive paints work great on fiberglass. They are formulated to adhere to bondo automotive filler as well as other materials. Tight Lines and Duipli Color Loops Andy M

I used Krylon spray paint on a rod a few years ago and it worked great, just taped off with blue masking tape.
