A McFarland for Boo |
Lead | |
|
Boo asked me to assemble his 8'6" 6wt 4 piece McFarland -- here are some photos. The reel seat is Bellinger N/S with an amboyna spacer. Wraps are AW
olive silk with Gossamer antique gold tipping, Al's Color Rite as CP. The rod weighs 4.75 oz, which is not that bad -- bamboo in this length and line
weight will weigh well over 5 oz. (The seat alone weighs 1.30 oz.)

eastprong,
Very nice. I especially like the black at the spigots. Thanks for sharing.
It's time to turn over a new fly.

Very nice work Rich, wrapping light colored thread on a dark blank with cp is a new form of torture (well it is for me anyways).

CTfisher wrote:I'll "volunteer" to be the "test caster" and will even write a "brief" report ... just have the rod sent to me. In fact, it really would not be appropriate to "test" it with just lawn casts, so perhaps I'd better keep it until the end of the Season, just in order to give it a complete "on the water" Report". ...ok, it's time to chime in here... I'll volunteer to test cast it, write a moderate sized report, wash it, wax it, and return it prior to the
season's end... beat that Ken!....... BTW, that is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship!... thanks for the pics... Bob
