I was wondering if anyone uses any of the 10 or 15 foot sink tip lines specifically when fishing wet flies and soft hackles? I am considering purchasing one
for when the water is higher than normal. I typically use a floating line with a little weight when the water is normal depth. I typically fish 2 flies at a time in
"ripply", fast current.
My main question is this. After you fish your cast 'down and across' and the line is straight below you, does the current pull the sink tip portion up to the surface like
what happens with a floating line? This is where many strikes occur (as you know) because the fish sees the fly moving to the surface. If the line remains below the surface
(especially the end of the sinking tip), that would prevent this from happening.
Thanks,
J.C.
