I've been trying to tie-up some relatively simple Stonefly Nymphs but am having difficulty when it comes to spacing out the thorax and the 3 wing cases. I tend to start the thorax too far back and the wing-cases end up getting spaced out too much. I don't think the fish will care so much but the tier (that's me) is incredibly picky about how these flies look.
The fly I'm tying calls for 3 separate pieces of turkey tail, tied in along the thorax to form the wing-cases. Not too difficult but for some reason, I end up either tying them too far apart or one right on top of the other...
Anyway, any suggestions for tying the thorax on these types of flies?
Thanks,
S
