Received a rod today. It is 7'6" , with the old brown weave, a H&I type plastic reel seet, full well grip, small stripper, and 5 black snakes. The
wraps are either black & gold, or dark blue & gold (from Pa.). The only writing on it is a hand written "Big Spring". Looks like it has been
dipped. Does anyone have any idea on this?

hello- unless memory fails me ,there was a fellow around the Big Spring Creek which is in Newville ,Pa (west of Harrisburg) who made fly rods .My memory of
this comes from growing up on the Big Spring and seeing a couple guys fly fishing with rods marked with that name . This is a memory from 1963 so I'm not
sure if my memory is correct. I do know that I have seen Rods somewhere with Big Spring on them. oh well, 'a mind is a terrible thing to waste' (or
lose).

That sounds about right. I bought it off eBay and it came from PA. I'm betting a HI blank, and he wrapped it with Navy blue & gold thread. Can't wait for spring. RY |
