This week I finally got around to a thorough cleaning and noticed that there are what appear to be 3 fine cracks between two of the guides in the tip section. They are approximately 3/16" to 1/4" long, running parallel to the rod length; all are within 1/4" of each other. They don't go all the way through the blank (i.e. they're only on one side of the blank). Is it possible to repair or strengthen this part of the rod so that the cracks don't get worse? Or did I just get myself an expensive wall ornament? It also has some corrosion and deep scratching on the male ferrule that I missed on the first inspection (rookie mistake probably).
I cleaned it with isopropanol and cotton swabs as recommended in a past post here. Any thing else I should do with that?
I tried to get a picture of the cracks, but they're small (and I'm not a great photographer). I probably should have waited till I knew what to look out for before I bought a rod, but I got too excited.
