This is a very cool Grizzly rod I thought I would show. Look at the length of that cigar grip!

Crusty,
That is indeed cool. Why do you suppose it was made with such a long grip Les |

Simply beautiful - that's a fine and completely unique stick! Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting. There has to be 10-12 inches of cork on there (try that with high end flor quality rings today!). You could mount any reel you want on that
rod and bring it into balance simply by changing your grip. Very interesting indeed.

Yup, the grip is 10.5 inches long. It allows you to find the right balance and/or grip thickness that suits you.

Did Grizzly actually build complete rods like this or is it custom made using a Grizzly blank? Regardless it's a very nice rod, especially with that
unique grip.

Hey Duff. The guy that I bought this one from said that another company finished some rods for Grizzly to be sold as Grizzly rods. Obviously there weren't
very many made but I've seen a few done the same way. The company or person that did the finishing was Maxwell or something like that. You don't see it
very well in the above pics but you can see the early Fenwick influence with the crossover threadwork on the butt.

I've got an un-marked rod with those same type ferrules. Appears to have been custom built (8ft, 5 or 6 wt). Wondering who may have made the blank. Did
many companies use that type ferrule?
Thank you, Lou |

Caddis4, those are called Sizematic ferrules. A number of manufacturers used them. They weren't cheap ferrules so the rods that use them were usually of
decent quality. Be sure to keep them clean for them to last long and perform their best.
