Looks like a fun river to me. Mai-Sue is a trooper isn't she? Little dogs are funny. My fiance has a Lhasa Apso and she thinks she is tougher than
anything.

I especially like that she knows how to reel with her proper paw........there'd be nothing worse than Madi-Sue deciding she was going to be one of those LH
Winding Dogs......that'd get costly for you keeping her in classic tackle

just keep Maddie Sue away from those bull trout
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

She should have her own forum... I mean, really, she is so cute and such a great fishing partner.....

Cute little pup...but one question...With all that long hair, how do you know if she's pointing TOWARD the fish, or AWAY from the fish?
Fine flyrods can be made from different materials, but bamboo is the Benchmark against which all the rest are compared......

Ewell uses chert from his dog brushes as dubbing and wings and catches fish with them
I have another buddy that used to tie successful nymphs from the molt on the bottom his double yellowhead's cage. David Train didn't have shy cats for nothing... I think it's one of those curmudgeon things.

many of my flies are tied with beautiful fur from my German Shepherd Dog. I think some were in the soft hackle swap.

My wife and I used to have a pair of gray mini-lop rabbits. To keep their hygiene up to snuff, you brush them like small dogs. I still have a large jar of
gray bunny fur that makes a perfect Adams dubbing.

Trust me, Madi-Sue NEVER points away from the fish. She is the most dedicated fisher I have ever seen. Won't take her eyes off the water, watches where I
cast, about comes unglued if fish are rising and I am not catching. Knows every good spot in the county, people threaten to dog-nap her and drive up and down
the road till starts jumping up and down, then let her out of the rig and follow her to the water. Used to scare the crap out of me when she was younger, she
would latch onto a bull trout or carp and not let go, they would drag her out into the river. Not such a problem now, she only has a couple teeth left. I try
not to post pictures of fish with missing scales.....

I'd pay to see a video of Madi-Sue latching on to a large bull trout and then taking an underwater ride not letting go. That is a dedicated trout pup for
sure.

Majicwrench, That is a great fishing buddy! My dog is more comfortable doing what she does best and that is following me around the house. Angie just
never will be a fishing buddy, gets a little nervous when out and about, although she is very comfortable in this picture! Notice the ablity to avoid the stay
off couch mat! Bill

I was at a local lake yesterday trying out couple of new rods-a Heddon Deluxe# T-70 and a Berkley Parametric Deluxe PD40. One of the spincasters fishing there
had a little dog that reminded me of Madi-Sue. This dog was very wise because it would rather hang around the lone fly fisher on the shore instead of the group
of spincasters on the dock. The dog was paying a lot of attention to something back in the trees. Most likely there was a moose back there and the dog either
heard it or smelled it. I often saw a moose cow and calf at that lake this summer.
And by the way, both the Heddon and the Berkley are really, really nice rods! They both felt very good with a seven weight Wulff long belly line. |

Hey Keith, great photos as always! It's been many years since I've fished the Fisher. Beautiful country and easy access. Glad to see Madi-Sue again,
wish I could join you there, but probably not until next year now. It's getting COLD! Tom
