And welcome to borumas, labtrout, southernflyfisher and pocono I agree with you on the Eagle Claw it's a very good old rod, one of my long-time standbys for sure going way back. Hi all. I'm new to this board and look forward to gleaning and contributing information here. I don't have a fiberglass rod yet, but it's just a
matter of time. I'm trying to sell some items so I can build my own. I live in Liberty Lake Washington just east of Spokane. Dangerously close to the new
Cabela's store in Post Falls Idaho. I fish both eastern Washington and northern Idaho. My favorite rivers are the Lochsa, Selway, St. Joe & North Fork
of the Coeur d' Alene. (kor-duh-lane) They are freestone rivers and a challenge to wade, but worth it because of the Native Westslope Cutthroat that
inhabit those waters. In eastern Washington I mainly fish lakes. My wading is getting much worse with age and I remind myself of a drunk trying to walk on ball
bearings, so I just bought a new pontoon boat, and have turned primarily to the many and beautiful mountain lakes of N/E Washington. I'm going to try to
post a real nice Fin-Nor fly reel for sale. Take a look if you like.

Hello
I live in high desert in So. Cal. Fish all the creeks and rivers I can. Mostly the east slope of the High Serra's, and the Kern River drainage. There are a few creeks by the house I visit all the time. I would fly into Salt Lake and travel with My son lives in Colorado and we float the Eagle, Colorado and the Roaring Fork, with lots of side trips. The Frying Pan or Gore Creek. We like to go after Steelhead and Salmon on the West Coast. Most western states. Alan |

Knowing your (great) taste in bamboo, I'm curious if you've settled on a glass rod for your small stream work out there. If it were me tromping around in the Desolation Wilderness, I think I'd slip one of these 8' 3/4 Steffens everybody seems to like in my pack... |

Not sure yet about which rods to settle on. Looking around this site should be helpful. I picked up a 7'-9" wonderrod at an antique store awhile back, it was to cheap to pass up. A few week ago I went fishing with a friend and he let me cast a few of his rods. I liked his Diamondglass 8 1/2' 4wt 3pc. He also had a nice 8' Scott DT5/WF6 5pc Amber Brown from the late 70's. They both were sweet to cast and I used the Diamondglass for a while in the boat while floating the Roaring Fork and it performed quite nicley. He also had 2 rods made in Japan that were small, light and smooth and easy lawn casting. Alan |

Hi Arleyp. We've probably bumped into each other. I teach at Gettysburg College, and normally fish the Yellow Breeches and Letort several times a week
(along with the Conewago). Right now, though, I'm on leave and away from PA.

I live in Central Oregon and grew up on the coast of Oregon. From central Oregon I can drive to the coast for Steelhead, Salmon or Salt. I live close to the
Deschutes River and have enough options that deciding where to fish is the biggest challenge. I have a love for everything that has fins. If it can be caught I
will try it with the fly. You should fish for Ling Cod off a jetty at 1'oclock in the morning it is intense! I have guided since 1999 but have taken the
last couple years off to persue other indevers. If anyone makes it out this way let me know and I will gladly show you some cool stuff.

I live close to Cape Cod and I do a wide range of fishing, with both flies and lures. I fish the Canal for stripers, do some fly fishing for stripers, jigging
for stripers, and I also do some trolling for bluefin tuna. For freshwater, I fish for largemouths, smallmouths, trout, and whatever else I can find (monster
pickeral included). I have been tying a lot of flies in the last few years: bass bugs, streamers, and, most recently, nymphs. While I do most of my fly
fishing with graphite, I have a few nice fiberglass rods that I use as well. I have family in Iceland, and I have fished there numerous times for Atlantic
Salmon. Right now, I'm preparing for a trip to Chile in November with my girlfriend.

Hey guys,
I'm a small stream fisherman at heart. I inherited a mint Shakespeare Wonder Rod B-814 7'9" rod from my Dad, and I learned to fish with this rod back in the late 70's. It's a little heavy for the majority of the fishing that I do so I just upgraded to a new Great Bay Rod Co. Saxon Creek model to really let those Brookies put a bend in the rod. I'm utilizing the same reel that was on the Wonder Rod, a Horrocks Ibbotson Model 60 that is probably too heavy for the rod but it will have to do for now. The "major" rivers near my house are the Isinglass and the Cocheco, with the fabled Connecticut above 3 hours away. |
