The Wait Is Killing Me! |
Lead | |
|
I recently bought my first fiberglass rod. It was posted here and on another site. I'm on the West Coast, (Washington) and the rod is coming from New
Jersey. It was mailed parcel post last Tuesday the 2nd, and it isn't here yet. The wait is driving me crazy. I'm going up the St. Joe in north Idaho
this coming Saturday, and I really want to take it with me. I wonder, does anyone have a picture of a Fenwick FF 7 1/2'er with an Orvis Battenkill Disc on
it. I'm dying to see how they will look together. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

As we say on Siesta Key...."Life's a beach"......
Fine flyrods can be made from different materials, but bamboo is the Benchmark against which all the rest are compared......

No rod yet. I'm starting to get the shakes.

It's worth the wait, the Battenkill will look fine, don't know about the balance but these are light rods (to me, anyway). You did good for a first
'glass rod.

Hi Joe;
Have you recieved your rod yet? If it makes you feel any better, I still get impatient for a new rod or reel to arrive. Especially for those that take more than a week. How about others, do you still get excited/impatient about a new purchase? Waynebh |

My new best friend, the mailman! | ||
|
My mailman Joe can always tell when I am waiting for an eBay purchase. It's easy to tell; I am standing at the mailbox when he drives up!! This breathless anticipation has subsided a bit over the past few months, but it has not gone away completely. Sometimes USPS takes forever!!!!!!! Enjoy your new rod. Get some ferrule wax. Have a blast.

Oh man, I'm waiting for a special rod myself right now. My mailcarrier knows as well when I'm expecting a package because I wait outside by the box.
Last time around she drove past my house and then turned around and came back as I was walking back to the house.

The worst is when a new rod is being shipped via UPS and you have the tracking information. You can see that the rod arrived in town on a Friday, but most
likely that rod will not be delivered until Tuesday. You have four days knowing that your new rod is sitting in a warehouse within a couple of miles from you,
but there isn't any way that you can get it!

Still no rod. If I had any hair left, I'd be pulling it out. It's been 10 days, counting Sunday.
It will probably be waiting for me when I get back home from fishing.

Lotech...10 days is a tough wait no doubt. I try to use USPS Priority shipping whenever possible since I know what it is like to wait at the mailbox for little
square boxes and rod tubes.

Still no rod. Now I'm starting to worry. Tomorrow is business day #10, and if I don't get it by then, I'm going to ask the USPS to track it.
Through rain, sleet, hail, and snow, we will let nothing stop us from our appointed rounds. BRAVO-SIERRA. Let's see what tomorrow brings, or doesn't
bring. Darn it, my vacation is over and still no stick.

It doesn't do you much good now Joe but the USPS priority mail service is pretty darn good. I regularly receive packages shipped from Woodland Washington
to Portland Maine in 2 days. In fact I got a package today 9/15 that was shipped Friday 9/12 from Sacramento CA. USPS priority mail is the best deal in town
IMO.

gypsy,
I know what you mean. I always try to ship priority mail. It's only like a buck more and you get gratification lots faster. This time it's coming to me "parcel post" so they're dragging their feet. IT'S KILLING ME to wait. Tomorrow will tell.

Possible Bummer | ||

It looks like the rod I've been waiting for is lost in transit. It is 7 days overdue according to the USPS. It was due here on Sep 9, and the tracking #
shows that it was accepted by the PO and never delivered. I'm in a quandary. Do I ask for the reel that I traded for it back? I really don't want the
reel back even though it's a darn nice reel. I want a new glass fishing rod. It would have been my first. Now I just want to kick something, but I'm
old enough to know that all you get from that is a busted toe. RATS!

Joe,
Don't give up yet. It may take it a while but I'm betting you will eventually get it, hopefully in great condition. Doug |
