I had the opportunity to cast this rod for a while on Saturday.

I can tell you that it is a beast. I think that most of the carbon fibers are in the tip area. I was casting the rod with a Rio Closer 10wt. I would personally like to try the rod with a 12wt line. The rod is rated for 300 to 400 grain (sinking) lines as well. Most for the TFO guys seem to like the rod with a 9wt line.
If you like a very fast rod, I would use the 9wt. I see one in my future as a baby tarpon and stripper out of a boat rod. The Blue Water series are designed to lift. I think it would also work for big salmon in small streams.
If you want a short multi piece mostly S glass heavy weight rod, I'd say at least give this rod a look.
