My daughter and I took a little day trip to a small warm water pond near our house- she's 11 and has been diligently working on her fly casting the last
year. The trip was 2-fold to give her a chance to catch some fish all by herself and fully cement the fly fishing bug in her ear, and to give the new
fiberglass 2 weight a work-out.
Both went remarkably well.
This was the 1st fish Emily caught on a fly rod all by herself
Nice little sunfish- it's wonderful to see her face light up when that little 8 inch sunfish hit.

Dad's BIG fish of the day- typical the woman always catches the bigger fish!! LOL
Here's the prototype we've been working on- my wife calls it the Xmas tree rod. Luckily we decided to go with a gloss green color for final production.
And finally I decided to pull my Dad's Horrock-Ibbotson off the WonderRod and see how it balanced the 2 weight.
It was a nice fit at 5 oz. with line.
There's nothing more wonderful than watching a child's face light up. Would not trade it for a million dollars or a lifetime supply of gas!!
