Had some business to take care of that left me in the CARP COUNTY area. Cameraon asked if I had tried the Two hander on carp, so I had to try! WHAT A BLAST!
While no pictures as: 1. I was by myself and these are BIG carp. 2. a drop off. 3. Allot of vegetation and downed trees not to mention garbage like someones
t-shirt...YUK! and here is the best reason....I NEED TO BE USING 10 lb or 12 lb. LEADER instead of 6. I had 5 today to only loose two at the bank and three to
obstructions in the river. One even was porpusing. I held on as long as I could then under a downed branch and gone. I got to get back there soon!

Hahaha,
Yea the first big fish my son caught was a big Carp upriver in late summer, they sort of travel up river as the water warms and slows down some. Thats what addicted him to fishing. Him and the rest of his Boy Scout Patrol. Those kids were taking Carp in the 5 plus pound size all day long on ultra light spinning tackle. It was catch and release mostly sense Ive tried no good cooking style for Carp. But the kids had fun and almost immediately wanted to try it on our flyrods before the day was over. My son has fished for trout for years with me, often limiting on pan sized trout, however that exposure to bigger fish really caught his and his buddies interest. While Carp are not my pick of the litter, they are definately a game fish worthy of taking, especially with light gear. I use a 10# leader/tippet for the 5 pounders, but when we get into some bigger ones in the 10# and up sizes switch immediately to a 10# or 12# leader/tippet. Richard |

I have to agree with Cameron, we need photos. Maybe Baxter can learn? So what line did you settle on for the rod, the wind cutter? Did you try any-other line
sizes yet? When you get a chance, make sure you and Mojo sign the rod before we pass it on the the next person(no hurry). If you happen to think about it, get
a Utah fishing proclamation and tear the front page off and include it with the rod, as kind of a glass rod fishing passport. Eventually, when the rod gets
back to me, it would be fun to make a scrapbook of it's fishing adventures. Thanks for enjoying the rod.

I used Orvis 8 wt. Multi tip in case I need to go deeper, all I would have to do is change heads. I didn't however, floating was the ticket.
I do need someone else there however, I swear some of those Carp weigh as much as I do....:-) Still working on the Wiener Cam LOL |

Got back to the river today and this should make you happy.
And it is good to know, this rod doesn't discriminate:

Glass spey rods are pretty rare.
What are the rods you are using, what lines are you using, and how do they do? -Vinnie in Juneau |

I wouldn't call it a spey rod. It is a 6/8 wt. 9' Hardy Glass with a fighting butt. Mountainshark can tell you more as he is the builder of this sweet
stick. This rod LOVES Windcutter II in a 7 weight, but due to the surroundings on this river, I don't like to use my GOOD line, so I was using the Orvis
Multi Tip.....BUT, I didn't have the 15' floating head cause it kept getting caught in the guides with all the long grass on the shore....I was unable
to pull any line off with out it getting caught in bushes or grass. So, I attached a 5 1/2' Maximum 2lb furled leader (which they did break on about #4).
It cast like crap, but I was able to put the fly where I needed. Where there is a will, there is a way.

I am going to have a hard time handing this rod off to someone else. It is the CARPANATOR!
