Finally finished it after a couple month hiatus. 7'6" 2 pc. 4w. I started this I think it was in January. Finished it yesterday. Thanks to Matthew
Leiderman for the inspiration for
the ferrule ring. The rod likes the Rio Selective Trout II

ooohhh , that is a snappy looking rod. The butt wraps are excellent. Is this for you or are you passing it on to some lucky person?

Very nice build, kind of reminds me of some cane rods I've seen. I love the Classic twist thread, I'll be using some on my next Lami build as well.

This is about the 4th time I've typed this. For some reason I keep hitting wrong buttons and my post gets deleted.
Anyway, Thank you all, this rod is mine and mine only. I like the way it casts using the Rio STII in a DT. I've only lawn casted it so far. All the streams and rivers are blown out with runoff. Snowbird and Alta still have over 120" of snow up there. But it's supposed to get into the 80's this weekend. The runoff will go for another month or so I think. |

Walnut? Did you turn the insert filler yourself? I've been trying to do a reel seat insert like that on the lathe and haven't had much luck. Love the
ratan grip and variegated thread.

Reel seat like gypsy said is walnut. It's a Tim Zirtek (sp) reel seat. I have found another guy that turns his own inserts and machines the hardware. This
guy made the reel seat on the McFarland TU rod I did. He's got a lot of different wood to chose from. His name is Ray Lee from Moscow Idaho. I have a
splated maple reel seat coming for my other McFarland. Thanks again for the compliments. Alan
