I'm not connected to this seller or auction in any way shape or form....just thought it looked like a good deal to pass on.

is the line the gem? | ||

I have one of those that I picked up for $25 at a collectors show - for the silk line that was on it.
The line on this one looks like it could be. You can never tell from the ebay photos and it's a lost cause to try to ask the seller to burn it to determine if it's silk, and to see whether it's tapered. But for $15 bucks it's not a bad speculative investment, in my humble opinion. -Vinnie in Juneau |

What's the diameter of the 2095? Is it the same as the 1495?

yes, it's identical. It has a click-pawl, but it's a pretty smooth click-pawl, because it has a big drag gear.

Okay, so I grabbed it. First of the GEM series I've ever handled, so I have a couple questions. I know there was a GEM 2094 - I assume its the equivalent
of the 1494 in size. Was there a GEM 2092 (1492 equivalent) or 2096 (1496 equivalent)? Did they make the 1/2 sizes in the GEM series? The one I purchased,
though a little rough in the paint department, cleaned up nicely and is awaiting a good coat of wax and some Hot Sauce before being lined.
The line on the reel pointed out below was a level line, plastic and probably a sinking line based on the dark brown color. No silk treasure there, but its always worth hoping.... And yes, this has a very nice click. Slightly stiffer on pay-out rather than reel-in. Smooth and functional. I can see this reel loaded with a 6.7.8wt line being a great choice for warmwater fishing or even heavier trout applications swinging streamers, etc... I'll be picking up a couple more of the GEMs! I've got lotsa Gems; I half-heartedly collect them--2094s and 2095s. I've not seen a Gem-1492 equivalent. Don't know if they produced that model at
one time. I'm fairly sure it was not found in Pflueger's mainstream production history. I hope someone proves me wrong 'cause that would be a fine
little reel. Since the 1492 is spring-and-pawl, a Gem, which has the same check system (well, half of it anyway), may have seemed redundant in marketing terms.

It's not in bad shape at all. The paint is a bit rubbed and dull, but it cleaned up nicely and works flawlessly. I really like the reel. I fished it on
my 8' Berkeley Parametric yesterday. I'll be adding a 2094 to the stable for certain.
No word on half sizes? I'm not finding too much info on-line about this series of Pfluegers, though admittedly I'm not really in full research mode looking. If anyone can point me to a synopsis of models/years/variations that'd be great! Joe C. "Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the

No half sizes, and no 1492 equivalent that I know of. This amounted to the economy version of the Medalist, so not much range in sizes; but, some variation in
visual characteristics during its production history. The early ones were just beautiful with striated, imitation bone and amber Medalist-type handles. I have
a first model, crescent-latch, brass-foot 2094 with the oxidized "gunmetal" finish that is finely made and a simple joy to behold. Did I say
"economy model?" Hardly seems so in this case.
