This weekend I got a chance to go over and fish Lake Athens (NE Texas). On Friday, I fished with Pearow (out of his powerboat), who put me on some big Copper-Nose Bluegills and Red Breasts. On Saturday I fished an outing with the Fly-Fishing Club I belong too (FT Worth Fly Fishers) out of my Kayak.
Friday, the fish would only eat sub-surface patterns (I was using a Cap Spider) on Saturday, they decided they wanted to eat on top (I fished a mini-Gurgler.
Instead of fishing my Vintage glass rods, I decided to use a couple of the new glass rods I had recently built. I used a Tadpole (6', 4 wgt) on Friday and a TFO SGII on Saturday (6'-9", 6 wgt.). I think there were 5 or 6 of us fishing "Glass".
Here's a few photos of the trip.
