A very beautiful background for any fishing trip. As Keith mentioned, almost tropical looking. Within about 15-20 minutes I was into my first carp.
These guys are bulldogs. Some run like steelhead although much shorter runs....some just dog you for what seems like an eternity. They are almost unbelievably strong, they can't be turned, they just pull and pull and pull...... You just have to beach them as they can't really be managed in the deeper water. Next photo is Keith with the fish of the day on. Notice Madi-Sue is along for the ride. Keith caught the biggest carp of the day, he cast to fish all day and did it all with Madi-Sue on one arm (she's just too little to be in this big water). That's Abby in the photo there too, they both love fishing.
We both knew this was a big fish....
But who could have guessed how REALLY big this thing was?? We both lifted this fish and estimated it at 20 plus pounds!
One more photo of that really big fish, Keith and Madi-Sue.
An awesome day! Keith is a gracious guide, and I owe him a debt of gratitide for showing me how to catch a big carp on a fly. Until next time, Keith!
Tom
