The finale:
The Pro did the epoxy work for me. It was truly a blast building this rod. I can't wait to build another one.
Specs:
7'6" 4 wt. 3 piece. Struble handle, Hathaway snake guides, Fuji Strippers
Where will I put it to good use?

I wish that was my work area! Anyone in San Antonio area should definitely take advantage of the deal Dennis has available at Rodmakers. Use his equipment and
get his guidance for $40 on top of rod component cost. (He supplies thread, glues, tools, etc.) He constantly hawks over while you work to make sure you are
doing it right. You just sit in back of the store building a rod along side him, asking questions along the way. He could not understand why I would want a
fiberglass rod though. He is all about high line speeds at the coast. He is super knowledgeable and a pleasure to learn from.
Hey Bulldog, you get to enjoy the river Sunday while I am on a plane! The Medina has always been one of my fav rivers. I took those pics while I was trailing you last week. I am glad you told me about that spot!

Any time I visit Dennis, we get in an argument.
I said, "...casting and fishing aren't the same thing." Dennis said, "Yes they are the same thing - they are exactly the same thing." well, we don't get in a fisticuffs or anything |

I'm DONE!.....umm...then finishing....then I'll be done! Hopefully this week......

Very nice, Tent. Like the mojo hat.
That bronze Ross reel sure complements the rod well. Have you tried it with a BS-100? |

amazing for your first try. i'm here in texas and would really like to get down there. what creek is that? llano? pedernales? san marco? i'm also
interested in this rod building. that seems like a really great deal. i;m hoping to make a week long camping trip out that way.

The pictures are from the Medina River. This area is where the Medina River feeds into the lake. My fav part of the river is from the town of Medina to
Bandera. I have been floating this stretch since I moved here ten years ago. There are so many fish in the river it is rediculous. They are mostly small so
they get rejected by most people. I have caught 5+ pound bass from this river, it is just that you get compitition from 100 perch to your fly before it sinks
to the big fish! I posted a float trip on another thread (Kayak trip) which is on the Medina, but by the town of Medina, not by the lake. I caught over a
hundred fish the first day.
Guadalupe Bass, I have not tried the BS-100, but hopefully I will soon. I have not really needed a sinking line for where I have been fishing lately, but will need it shortly. Next in store: a Saltwater rod for the coast and big bass. I also will build a 7' Lami. |
