I just wanted to share the progression of my sceptre blank. The wood used for the reel seat and the caps on the full wells grip is maple burl. The hardware is
a Bellinger 680 uplocking in black. The burl was rough turned on the lathe and then finished with files and sandpaper. The seat and handle were both dry sanded
to 320 grit, after a coat of super glue was placed on the burl and sanded with 400. several coats of mylands sanding sealer and wet sanding in between with
600, followed by a wet sand of 1500. The final finish is Mylands friction polish on the seat and handle. It is a work in progress so no winding check is
present.
