        <![CDATA[ I&#39;m beginning to look for a really good 4-piece rod in a 7 to 7.5 ft length, preferably a DT4 / WF5. 

One that you can would keep under the seat of your truck or take on a hike. 

I&#39;m curious to know what others on this board think.


What is a 4 piece rod in this range that you would want to fish day-in and day-out?

I hear you, and yes, I do count myself a lucky man!

My 8&#39; 3-4wt Steffen is built on a 3pc blank, while my 8&#39; 4-5wt is 4pc. I would say the 8&#39; 3-4 is a little lighter and smoother/sweeter than the
8&#39; 4-5, but not by a whole lot. I used a heavier reel seat and beefier grip on the 8&#39; 4-5, but it&#39;s still pretty sweet.

The 8&#39; 3-4 I have mainly fished with 4wt lines, but it will definitely handle 3wt lines just fine, and it seems that many... ]]></description>

myself very impressed with this rod. Again, I&#39;d bet that a 7&#39;6&quot; - 7&quot;9&quot; version of this rod or a McFarland would be great for your

Well to be honest sense its purely a walk in affair from the Johnsondale Bridge to the Golden Trout Wilderness, its an easy solution. Live here, get the wife
to drive you up (26 miles) and drop you off and come back a few days later.

Today after the snow gates have opened there are often alot of nice people up in motor homes parked in the old/new parking area, I would trust them for day

that&#39;s the price range I&#39;m shooting for. The others sure sound like great rods, too, though. I&#39;d love to try a yellow Fenwick sometime. I looked on

			<description><![CDATA[ GB...I have to agree with CreationBear that the Japanese yellow Fenwicks are hard to beat.  I&#39;ve been really impressed with mine.  A very capable rod and
would be perfect for under the seat to always have at hand.  The price, depending on where the Yen is at, is hard to beat as well.

			<description><![CDATA[ If it&#39;s gonna be a &quot;leave it in the pick-up &quot; rod with your specialized configuration (short 4-5 wt), I&#39;m assuming you don&#39;t want to drop
a big chunk of change on it. Vintage Fenwick or Great Bay makes sense to me then (although someone&#39;s asking for $250+ for a FF75-4 on the bay now).

			<description><![CDATA[ I agree with the ff75-4 or ff756-4.  It may be a little heavier than what you described but it throws a dt5 well and is not too big for trout and not too small
for bass or even some small steelhead.  A very good all around rod for whatever you might drive up too.

			<description><![CDATA[ I know Mike McFarland would make you a great blank or rod in that configuration, and I&#39;ll bet Mark Steffen would as well. I built an 8&#39; 4-5wt 4pc on a
Steffen blank that I&#39;ve only fished once so far (with DT5 and WF5), and am liking this rod. I&#39;ll be fishing it on Thursday for some good sized
cutthroat trout and will probably try a couple of 4wt lines on it then, too. I&#39;ll be building a rod this coming winter on an 8&#39; 5wt 4pc McFarland

			<description><![CDATA[ I&#39;m beginning to look for a really good 4-piece rod in a 7 to 7.5 ft length, preferably a DT4 / WF5.

One that you can would keep under the seat of your truck or take on a hike.

I&#39;m curious to know what others on this board think.

What is a 4 piece rod in this range that you would want to fish day-in and day-out?
