Ok, lets see how good you guys are. I have a rod that I need help on. Some questions I have are, who, what, when and where?

It is a 6 piece fiberglass with metal ferrules. Light brown blank with Chinese Red spiral wraps over white. A little over 7' with all the pieces within
1/4" of each other. Snake guides, with locations for 4 giudes. Tip top has a small crimp in it, doubt that it is a factory crimp. No handle or seat so
I don't know if it is a fly rod or not. Full...

I would bet South Bend.
Most of those old metal ferruled rods were a bit clubby, but they certainly can cast a fly line and catch fish!!
Have fun,

Looks to me like an older Wright and McGill Trailmaster with rewrapped guides. A tungsten carbide stripper would look nice. I would redo it to suit your
fancy. There are plenty of good condition Trailmasters at prices that make restoring one not worthwhile.

My guess is that this rod had the old Granger nickel silver reel seat that was stripped off to restore a more valuable Granger or Wright and McGill bamboo rod.

Alright since I couldn't get any help with just a description I added a picture. It must be a fly rod from the indications of where the handle and seat
use to be. You can see the winding check and the glue from the handle.

Opinions: Should I try to take it back to original or build it how I see fit? I am planning on doing the spiral wraps over the white no matter what. Wonder
what kind of stripper it had on it? The stripper is gone.
