Thanks for the good words guys. I sent Loudog99 a pm awhile ago describing my finish process. Basically I apply a thin coat of flexcoat lite to the wraps, wipe
off the excess with a brush, then apply a thin coat of high build. The epoxy is thinned with various amounts of denatured alcohol depending on the ambient
temperature to extend the pot life.

No secrets other than attention to detail and willingness on my part to remove a wrap and start over if I don't like the way it...

Quick question- what process have you settled into with your thread finishing? Thinned FC Lite, then spar? I know you've posted that before but I can't
recall or find the thread. Also, are you using a cabinet to keep dust out- I can't get over your immaculate finish work. I do OK, but I always manage an
imperfection here or there that I end up having to live with.

Thanks,

Thanks guys. Barry I've tried numerous fountain pens with different nibs, 005 micron pens and in spite of my persistence I can't write well on a blank.
I'm using water slide decals with a unique font until I'm comfortable with the way my writing looks on a blank. It's not ideal but the Steffen
blank deserves a better signature than my hand can give.

BTW the gentleman who bought the rod sent me an email yesterday describing the action as very smooth, a bit slower...

Thanks. There really is nothing quite like silk thread. Done right it looks like it was melted on the blank; very liquid looking with no visible thread lines.
Like a Ruby. The YLI is a silk thread, I use size 100 but it's sold in a larger size 50 also. Chinese Red looks very similar to GudeBrod nylon Candy Apple
red but more subtle. Pearsall's scarlet red could easily be substituted for the Chinese red as it's essentially the same color.
