retrieve right handed?  The rod is in the left hand at this point and rod position would be awkward to &#39;me that is&#39;  by trying to reel palm. adjust the
drag, etc. with the right hand when the rod is in the left hand.  Your right handed and most coordinated and sensitive with that hand.  Catch a fish sometimes
require a fight... ]]>

			<description><![CDATA[ This is one of the few situations where lefties got the upper hand (no pun intended).  The british made all their reels right hand wind.  Lefties are very
comfortable throwing left and winding right, kind of like baseball.  Now theres all those old obsolete right hand wind reels out there that nobody wants except

your toes it ya want!! all my reels are lhr, but if I came across a right handed that I wasn&#39;t able to convert, I&#39;d probably be able to adapt. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I started out casting right reeling right until I was told by a friend that it was wrong.  Have been reeling left ever since but met a new friend that gave me
something to ponder.  He said that you are much smoother reeling right being a right hander and learning to do so will help prevent flipping the line around
the bottom of the rod and you can also reel faster.  I have been working on going back to right reeling and it does not seem to be a problem.

			<description><![CDATA[ For large saltwater fish they say to use you dominate hand for reeling as it does not tire as easy.  With that said most people cast dominate side so that
would be right/right or left/left.  I cast right and reel right untill recently.  I started to reel left for some strange reason. ]]></description>

switching hands. I remember taking a tour when I was over in Sweden. When they told me that I started rolling. When I explained that&#39;s where I was from and

It&#39;s interesting because when I played traditional dance music for years down here I played the fiddle in the typical RH manner (grip fiddle LH, bowing
with the right), while a few Lefties I knew switched the strings and soundpost on their instruments and played &quot;backwards.&quot;

			<description><![CDATA[ Just for fun, I will note that most of my reels are set up for RH retrieve, and that early on as a teen ager in the 60&#39;s when learning and a RH reel  was
all I had, I sometimes mounted the fly reels so that the handle was on the left, and then I reeled &#39;backwards&#39; (that is, counter clockwise,,, towards
me). I got used to doing that with older reels that did not convert to LH and continued to do it that way, not bothering to switch from RH on reels that would

then I moved-up to a Mitchell 300.

Then a fly rod.

My Dad (&quot;The Instructor&quot;) is left-handed,

so he always casted left (dominant hand) and reeled right (weaker hand).

When he taught me, he naturally (or un-naturally?...) mirrored his methodology to suit my right-handedness.

Which makes me a right casting LHW.

			<description><![CDATA[ As Magicwrench and Dave Lewis stated: casting and reeling right handed was the way things were done until the post WWII era. It&#39;s an English tradition,
same as holding the fork with your left hand while cutting food then setting down your knife and placing your fork into your right hand to eat. I couldn&#39;t
buy into it, though my mom tried... This preference has carried over into my fishing. I&#39;m another righty with my reels set for LHW. ]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[ I cast with the right and reel with the right, but with the spey I cast with both depending on whether I&#39;m on river left or river right.  When I started
flyfishing for Steelhead, about 15 years ago, and old-timer once told me that if I were to learn to cast and then reel with opposite hands I could  make a
longer fishing day because my casting arm would not be as fatigued.  I tried it, got used to it, and have done it ever since.

			<description><![CDATA[ With a spin background, I started casting right and winding left. But I was self &quot;taught&quot; with a fly rod and constantly caught the handle with the
line, so I quickly switched to LHW. Tried to switch to RHW once, but it felt wrong, and the effects of my poor teacher still showed up.

With spinning and then baitcasting for me it&#39;s cast with right and reel with left.  I purchased lefty baitcasters, it just made more sense to me.  With a
fly rod I normally cast with right and strip/retreive with left.  Never put a fish on the reel yet so I don&#39;t worry about what side wind the reel is. 
Sometimes situations require a left hand cast so I taught myself to cast with both hands. I don&#39;t use my left for fly casting much so it takes a few casts

Interestingly enough my first ever fishing reel was a RHW baitcaster that a friend&#39;s brother gave me and later a RHW spincaster my father gave me. When I
decided to BUY my first fishing reel which was a Mitchell 408, they came either LHW or RHW as opposed to the convertible reels of today. The salesman asked me
