Nice source for obsolete parts and convenience. As a side point, it may be helpful to know that, at least in the era of mass production, many screws and washers found in reels are standard machine parts. So a well-stocked hardware store is usually my first stop for odd parts. They may not have the exact length or head style, but can usually be easily adapted or, for instance, all screws changed so the heads match. Go to mikesreelrepair.com . Then you can go to the scematics in the lower left. Find your reel, get the part #, and go back to the front page and look up the parts list for your brand. Enter the part # and see if he has it. I know it is a pain but he has had the parts I needed more than once.

Ron, I still want the 72 but I've got plans to float the San Marcos tomorrow. I'll catch up with you some time soon though. Paul, that's right 731a , 2 screws to each pillar and I'm missing two screws. Thanks, Max

that's for a 731A? Those are rather interesting with two screws to each pillar. I gather you are missing a couple, not that you need a screw for comparison or to have one machined.?

it could be metric, but worse is some obscure BA series screw.

Looking at the daiwa screws up against the medalist, the screws diameter seems the same but daiwa has a slightly finer thread and a larger head. Max

I have plenty of screws from Hardy C kits, but they're for latch covers and line guards.
I'm not familiar enough with the reel, but with screwed in pillars, it wouldn't be the same as the Olympic/Seiko Hardy knockoffs.
In Pfluegers and Martins, pillar screws are 3-48.

I need to get my hands on a couple of pillar screws for a daiwa 731. Does anyone know if they are available from daiwa or if there may be a source for such a thing? Thanks, Max
