			<description><![CDATA[ I&#39;m redoing an old rod; put on a coat of spar varnish diluted with turpentine on the thread wraps; let that dry overnight and then came back with a second
coat undiluted.  It will not get hard; its been sitting for 2 days and its still tacky. the ace spar varnish is in a plastic bottle turned upside down; it was
showing no sign of deteriotation that I could see.   What is up? what do i do?  I appreciate any help-p- ]]></description>

			<title><![CDATA[ Fixing a Veteran Wonderrod? ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ Hi all, I found this rod in a bunch of old spinning rods I picked-up for $10. It&#39;s decal is gone and there are two cracks that are visible out of the
handle for about 3 inches. They are about 120 degrees apart. There are also some deep scratches about the stripper guide wrap. The rod measures 8 feet and is
wrapped with one color, either burgundy or garnet nylon, I won&#39;t know for certain until I unwind it and look at the undersides of the thread. The decals
are gone.

I&#39;m considering getting my hands into building a few rods and thought that stripping down and converting an UL Eagle Claw 5&#39; glass spinning rod would
be a good way to do so.

How would I go about this?  What&#39;s the best way to strip the grip, wraps, etc. off it without damaging the blank?

Black Beauty if the blank is not too dark of a brown.

			<description><![CDATA[ I have two Bamboo  fly rods from the 70&#39;s and the ferrulles are German Silver which I think is more like a nickel . They are a tight fit and a few times I
pulled the wrapping loose trying to get them apart after a few days of fishing . I was told to turn the rod upside down while fighint large fish now and then
to get even pressure on the ferrules to keep them from binding . I have not done that as of yet  I even put ferrule lube on them last time but had the same

			<title><![CDATA[ Free-Hand Wrapping ]]></title>

			<description><![CDATA[ One of my frustrations from my prior rod builds has come from wrapping the tip-top. It just bounces around on the outside of the wrapping jig, making tension
control difficult.

Today I tackled the tip-top of my Lamiglas guild. I did it free-hand. It was much easier. No problem keeping constant tension.

I did have to perform some finger  gymnsastics to secure and implement the tie off loop.

			<description><![CDATA[ I just took out my over-sleeve ferruled tadpole (spg 720) out for some test casting and it works great. The tadpole seems to be the most ideal small pond or
stream rod I now own. It is my first decent short glass rod, and I was a bit surprised as to how much line it will actually throw. A cold front just came
through and the fishing is tough, but managed a few small blue gills on nymphs.
