Selling glass spinning rods?

I know the rules here say flyfishing only. So is there a place (outside of ebay, ugh) that you can sell to guys collecting glass rods? I just went through all my rods this weekend, and have a few Fenwicks I want to dispose of. I do have a couple old lamiglas rods and blanks I may put up here. But outside of that, they are all spinning rods and spinning reels (they are vintage Mitchells and some Dam Quick). So, any ideas outside of ebay?

Blue Garcia Conolon (in line for repair)

I received a blue Garcia Conolon spinning reel and I am trying to figure out what to do with it. Most of the guides were broken, so I have started to strip it down, and was planning to rebuild it, but I am looking for ideas. The grip is in reasonably good condition, so I will probably just put new guides on.

Does anyone have experience with this rod. Is it worth a full makeover? It looks like it was a nice rod, and would still be serviceable if I put on new guides.

I bought a "lot" at a garage sale and these rods were in the mix. These were made before my time so to speak and I don't know anything about them. Some are spinning rods and some are a spin-fly configuration. All of these rods are in excellent condition but most do not have a label or identifying marks. Some of them were in some very cool wooden boxes and others in tubes. Check it out and let me know what you think. Any information would be appreciated.

The weather was sketchy this morning with drippy rain and a "who knows" forecast... so I bumped taking Cameron's Native tandem 14.5 out until Wednesday and went bankfishing in the lagoon...

Picked up a sweet just-shy-of-legal seatrout on the 4-pc 7' Fen with Garcia 301 onboard... he charged the bottomed Gulp shrimp...

and fanged me... in the salt: no blood in...

now that I have found your cool site I have been digging though my rods many of witch I do not know a thing on uther than I love fishing them .so please hummer a new guy with lot of dumb questions .
I have this Pflueger Supreme Boron is it Glass or what . on the handle it is marked Ultra Glass , the rod is marked Boron or is Boron type of glass , I like fishing this one for bass and piket. this rod will cast a crank a mile and has a back bone that will not stop. I know pics help...

Does anyone know anything about this blank? I picked up this custom built spinning rod as part of the two rod deal. Seems to feel like a flyrod at 8 1/2 feet? The owner stated it was used for steelhead fishing. I actually wanted the FF856 with original tube and never had been fished. Any info on the spinning rod would be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Esteemed Colleagues,

I came across these two Uslan rods recently. The rod with black and red wraps is 7 ft long and the rod with green wraps is 7.5 feet long. They are both labeled Uslan Custom Built Rods. The red/black is labeled Model No. 2847 and the green is labled Model No. 29010. I have reaserched the internet for all I can find for the Uslan Rod Company. The main information that I can find is in regards to Nat Uslan who manufactured 5-sided bamboo rods. The logo fits...

Toe River trip

Enjoyed fishing the Toe River outside of Burnsville NC over the weekend.

We landed at my nephew Pete's rustic and comfortable digs at The Arthur Morgan School in Celo Community, where he teaches music to young people

What a beautiful, healthy river. Large trout are common here and my nephew Henry caught a monster hatch brook last week.
Juvenile fish were teeming everywhere...

Which grease for classic spinning reels?

Hey Folks - Which kind of grease do you prefer for re-doing classic reels like the Alcedo Micron or Michell 308? I have been told that Hot Sauce and the like could get too stiff in cold weather and are not a good match for these reels without sealed bearings. Some folks recommend good old white lithium grease. I've heard lithoum grease can absorb water, but is that really a concern? I'd love to hear from anyone with experience doing this.

Carp on Ultralight

I fished yuhina's XXL 6-0 St. Croix rod last week on the Coosa river.

This combo rod is really better suited for spinning gear, so after picking up bream and catfish on it with a Martin tuna can I switched out to my Shakespeare Sigma spinning reel. The reel isn't vintage (unless you consider a decade vintage) but is well-matched to the St Croix. This reel doesn't hold much line, under 100 yds of Stren 4# mono.

Fenwick UL Provenance?

Hey guys. I came across this Yellow glass Fenwick. Its one-piece, 5.5 foot with an odd choice of reel seat, IMHO. Blank is marked Fenwick and then what looks like Model SP/21. It has an action like a wet noodle and would be a great bluegill or trout UL, I suspect. I have NO idea where it came from. I know it wasn't my rod and the cork has no indentations so I don't think its ever been fished. Must be something I picked up along the way and forgot about.

Just came home today from a weekend in eastern Washington and this was waiting for me at the door. When I intially purchased this I was looking for something in the 9' range, but a little less "stout" for fishing with my son for the summer runs using his favorite setup...floats n jigs. Nevertheless I will clean this up and see how I feel about it then. By the way does anyone know what these might be rated for as far as line weight/lure ounces????

Vintage ultralight spin rods

I am wondering what rod makes and models would be used with four pound test monofilament. I am interested in finding a couple of these rods for use on small streams around here for panfish and bass. Also, what would be a nice rod for use with 6 or 8 pound test monofilament? I appreciate the help!

Also, what reels would you recommend for use on them?

Anyone ever try one of these lures?

When I first got back into fishing about 8 yrs. ago,
spinning-fishing for trout in streams;
I bought some of these unique little lures;
but never actually used them.
(I only spin-fished for Trout for only a few seasons,
before moving-on to fly fishing... 'Rooster Tails' were my mainstays back then.)

Fast-forward to today,
and while preparing my 9 yr old Son's stuff for an overnight camping-trip...

This is quite a stick. 12' long with each section over 6'. You should see the butt on this one. I got a vintage penn 750ss to go with it. Now I just need to learn how to cast this one or set up a sun shade with it.
